Local Artist of the Week: Richard Ruehle-Spalted Maple Platter
Spalted maple is a prized kind of maple that has begun to decay, causing the characteristic dark lines and streaks where fungus began to attack the wood. At just the right time, the wood was dried, preventing any further decay but yielding a distinctive and very unique pattern in the wood, highly sought after by woodworkers. This beautiful spalted maple platter evidences all of the characteristics that make the wood so desirable as a very unique and highly decorative piece of art.
The shallow platter is approximately 11 inches in diameter. This work comes with a Certificate of Provenance attesting to your ownership of an original work of art.
